Hello God. It’s me, Buffi.

And here it is... the cover proof.

I was so thrilled to see the proof this morning!  I even printed it out and wrapped it around a Judy Blume book.  Now, I’m walking around the house with this jury-rigged version of my book.  I turn to the dishwasher and say, “Would you like me to sign your copy?”  That’s how insane this publishing process has made me!  Someone commit me.

Anyway, I need to approve this design or submit a change request.  Here’s my dilemma:  I think the subtitle and my name are hard to read.  What do you think?

Thanks for stopping by!
Please support me with your honesty.
CreateSpace gets an A!
I used CreateSpace for the cover design and I think they did a good job.  They got me the cover quickly and really listened to my needs.  I’m holding the final review of their services until the end.

  1. I'd put Wonderfully Dysfunctional on the dark brown (raise the dark brown to the top) and put It Must be Genetic below the dark brown section in a dark brown color on the top of the cap.

Your name looks like Bulfi, as the the two f's are different. They need to look alike.

    1. Linda - Thanks for the feedback. I thought I was being too picky, but you confirmed that the font on the name is off. The idea about the brown banner is good - I'll put that one out to the designer and see what they come back with. Thanks for taking the time to look at it!

  2. I like the font on your blog: Buffi next to the girl reading in the blue square. I agree that your name is hard to read on the cover, but HOW EXCITING!The cover proof.

    1. That's a great idea - I didn't even think of it. I'm going to suggest the designer change it to that font. Thanks so much!

    2. It's a good design and the right font, the other is too ornamental for a Subhead.

  3. Hello stranger,

Firstly, CONGRATULATIONS! I'm so excited for you!! How dizzily wonderful;-)

Secondly, I agree with the others - the font for your name and the subtitle are too hard to read.

    Congrats again!

  4. Yes my feedback is that the font is too difficult to read... I know what it says due to following your blog... but the novice reader will not...

Looking forward to your book being available :)

    Cheers

  5. Your name is almost lost espec on the spine. Increase the point size and eliminate the italics (especially on the spine) !!

  6. I agree with Peter about the name on the spine. I disagree about the cover text -- in fact, I read the subtitle and name before I read the title. Maybe that's just me, drawn to script, bypass serif fonts easily, too "normal" ;)

Just found you because you followed me on Twitter, so thanks. I was drawn by "...who stopped trying to be normal" because that's been my journey too. Gonna keep my eye over here, watch how your book goes. Best of luck!

    1. Hey Kate - Don't you just love twitter? I have met so many really interesting people all over the world via twitter. Thanks for stopping by and thanks so much for the feedback on the cover.

  7. Your instincts were right. It's lovely script, but not easy to read. I'd ask for other script options, or go with a nice simple sans serif. It would still balance the serif font of the title nicely. Otherwise, lovely cover!
    And, KUDOS!

  8. Congratulations on the book!! I agree with the others, though, that say it's not that easy to read. You want your name OUT THERE!! lol

  9. Wow, congratulations! To be honest, I don't think there's anything wrong with this cover, apart from the lack of clarity of your name on the spine. Well done!
